You want proof that the AIM Casino is not as you may have thought a place where CEOs lie and commit fraud, where Nomads float any old rubbish but a beacon of honesty. You may have lost money on stocks but that is unlucky because there is hard evidence that this market is cleaner than clean, whiter than white, The Mother Theresa of all Exchanges.

Trouble must be brewing as it looks like the AIM Regulation team have decided to hire a qualified lawyer!

Beat me to the punch on this one Nigel!!!
I was planning on a very similar piece. Guess how many cases of market abuse the FCA have prosecuted on AIM over the last 5 years.
Answers on a postcard please….

Is the pitiful figure you quote here the total number of prosecutions and / or disciplinary notices by both the market abuse team at the FCA and the AIM investigations team at the LSE though (or – if they’re essentially one and the same – I apologise for being a klutz)? Only, that seems ridiculously low. It would be interesting to compare and contrast that as a percentage of the total number of AIM companies listed to the percentage of people in the general population who are found guilty of fraud and general dishonesty and the like over the same period (given that BODs are members of the general population too, albeit mostly wealthier). Hmm…

Ben – you can blame Tom for that!
Now then, number of cases of market abuse prosecuted by the FCA….hmmm, let me think…is it a very round number?

J P – just AIM Regulation. Have done FOI to FCA for their part….
TW has alerted me to a piece in yesterday’s FT about the FCA issuing private censures (at record levels). All v well, but where is the deterrent to others?
