A bit of Hotel Chocolat...and then onto Vodafone

I have been really impressed by Hotel Chocolat (HOTC) as a (very) occasional consumer, but never (to date) as an investor. A couple of months ago I observed that I was waiting for a 300p or below share price, a level we have not seen for around a year. Yesterday early evening PrimaryBid offered an opportunity to participate in a money-raising for the group. You can guess what I said at a 355p share price (equivalent to a then discount of 2.74%) offer.

For Vodafone it is time to be a do-er and not just a talker

I like spin-offs as they are much more likely to be incorrectly priced than an average share will be. Sometimes this is because a newly spun-off business has a liberated management team who can really drive shareholder value and sensibly evolved strategic positioning. 13th in the best buy table with NESF down 2.1p. Though I would point out the 5.99p dividend paid so far this year with a further 1p to 2p to come from the final dividend.The buy table has some tough numbers.As a Kefi holder I hope to see it climb the table. ECOB reminds me of OPTI (although the scale of announcements are far greater and have actual numbers attached). I've viewed both businesses as having a interesting product and plausible business model but neither have actually delivered on that.How is ECOB picking up these contracts? They are so diverse, both geographically and it terms of languages spoken etc - where is the common thread that enables them to deliver these? It doesn't strike me that they would likely have a expansive international sales operation.I'd be a lot more comfortable if they were getting more projects off ground in Albania and the wider Balkan region as they would be able to technically and operationally serve such projects much more easily and really prove out the product.
