As Versarien warns it may go bust within weeks, a look back to peak ramp, the cartoons, the death threats, the trolling of my wife

By Tom Winnifrith, the Sheriff of AIM | Tuesday 1 July 2025

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.

Back in 2018 shares in Versarien (VRS) were almost 200p. Today they are just 0.016p after a catastrophic warning of impending doom yesterday afternoon. Forgive the schadenfraude but all the way down I have been a bear simply on the basis of rational analysis and cracking investigative journalism.

Shareholders in this company tried to get my wife sacked and trolled her. They discussed having me killed in chatrooms where Neill Ricketts was present. He menaced me on twitter and bullied one chatroom critic with legal action. He did not dare go legal with me but he went after easier targets.

Numerous folks said that I did not know what I was talking about. And then there was a whole calendar of cartoons mocking myself and Lucian Miers created by one deranged lunatic. As these cartoons almost all involved we bears getting killed, at a time when we did get death threats, they should not be trivialised.

As we enter the “end of days era” all those who have taken money promoting this crap should be ashamed. Those who have promoted it and threatened critics for free and who whipped up hatred and the culture of threatening critics, should perhaps consider to whom they apologise and, as they contemplate the millions Ricketts has made from this racket, think about who were the real villains in this sorry tale of lies, deceit and fraud.
