BT Group announces its new incoming CEO. Such excitement…not!

I observed last Thursday that, “I still remain rather grumpy about the recent decision from the CEO of BT Group (BT.A) to exit the business, given he has still got loads of his promised job to do”. Therefore, is it good news that “BT Group plc today announces the appointment of Allison Kirkby as Chief Executive…she will take over from Philip Jansen as Chief Executive around the end of January 2024 at the latest”?

BT

More headlines for BT Group's long-suffering shareholders to think about

I said a couple of months ago, that I was keeping on holding my BT Group (BT.A) shares, but I am even more officially hacked off with them now. It is nothing to with my monthly home phone, broadband, mobile and related bill, which is pretty cheap given the family (and me) access it just a little bit every day. No, what I am disappointed about is the news that “the FTSE-100 telecoms giant is working with head hunters on a search for a successor to Philip Jansen after he was approached about several US-based roles”...

BT

Why I am keeping on holding my easyJet and BT Group shares (for the time being)

I mentioned a month ago that easyJet (EZJ) was “looking forward to more summer holidays this year”. Today’s formal numbers for its half-year to the end of March are absolutely fine, talking about growing capacity, launching more flights out of Birmingham airport, boosting profit from holiday offers and “mid teen EBITDAR margin…low to mid teen ROCE”. Obviously, the latter two metrics are a bit comical but, as I shared with you at the link above, I think max future holiday hope hype for 2023-24 will occur in the late summer/early autumn period with this one. I think there will be a chance to sell my shares at 550p+ later this year and so continue to hold. So if easyJet is alright, what about BT Group (BT.A)?

BT

The ‘excitable’ world of BT Group

It is not over-egging the pudding to describe today’s interim 2022/23 numbers from BT Group (BT.A) as boring. After all, you do not need to be a financial genius to see its year-on-year adjusted revenue to be up by 1% and its adjusted EBITDA number to be up a massive 2%. And we have not even started to appraise whether the “adjusted” nature of the numbers had boosted them materially or not. However, there are other numbers of far more significance for BT Group and its, down c.6% as I write, share price.

BT

Will I ever see my two quid and out BT Group target?

Just under a week ago I wrote about how boring BT Group (BT.A) shares are. However, whilst I was right to buy a bunch of the shares a couple of years ago, when the share price has moved very close to my two quid share price target I have failed to book my profit and run. But what has gone, has gone and what am I going to do with the shares that today are down about 5% to just shy of 168p?

ECOB reminds me of OPTI (although the scale of announcements are far greater and have actual numbers attached). I've viewed both businesses as having a interesting product and plausible business model but neither have actually delivered on that. How is ECOB picking up these contracts? They are so diverse, both geographically and it terms of languages spoken etc - where is the common thread that enables them to deliver these? It doesn't strike me that they would likely have a expansive international sales operation.I'd be a lot more comfortable if they were getting more projects off ground in Albania and the wider Balkan region as they would be able to technically and operationally serve such projects much more easily and really prove out the product.
