Omega Diagnostics hit with a £2.5 million bill after the government terminates its contract

The last time I wrote about Omega Diagnostics (ODX) was back in June when I got slated for suggesting that the company had missed the boat when it came to Covid testing, and that its Department of Health and Social Care contract wasn’t worth the headline figure you so often saw people banging on about!

Tern – the slide continues

Evil Knievil always used to say that the best time to kick a man is when he is down. And so I return to AIM-listed jam-tomorrow, next year, never investment company Tern plc (TERN) where I see that the shares are once again down.

Tern – Big News arrives….except it is not big and the Nomad hasn’t signed it.

AIM-listed jam-tomorrow IoT investment company Tern plc (TERN) has announced an initial purchase order for investee Wyld Networks. So is it time to buy, buy buy….£s not pence? Er….

Tern: a reader asks if it is playing fast and loose with revenue recognition

AIM-listed jam-tomorrow investment company Tern (TERN) issued a Portfolio Update the other day which I thought was impressive for all the wrong reasons. An eagle-eyed reader spots that buried in the text was that aggregate turnover across Tern’s principal investees was up by 27% over 2018 – but only on 12 November 2019 we were told that Tern hoped it would be up by 50% on 2018. Oopsie! And that leads to a question over revenue recognition.

I was wrong about Avesoro - it is now uninvestable after the latest update

A lot of the time there is very little that you can do to avoid bad news coming out of the blue, and even less so where the directors of the company have previously tried to make out that the situation is far more positive than the reality. That would definitely seem to be the case with African gold miner Avesoro Resources (ASO), and if anything proves that I should stick with my gut feeling when something doesn’t quite feel right about a company...

What is the real value of the Eqtec deal?

There was much glee amongst certain individuals on Tuesday morning when an RNS dropped from Eqtec (EQT) announcing a contract, and some were very quick to point out that my opinion on the company had been incorrect. That followed my articles here saying that I wouldn’t touch the company, and although the news caused the share price to spike, my opinion on the company is completely unchanged – in fact the news actually reinforced my view!...

Imaginatik – another placing and a contract, but one to watch?

AIM-listed former Rob Terry favouorite busted flush Imaginatik (IMTK) yesterday announced another placing, following hard on the heels of the last bailout and oversubscribed open offer of last month. I was very critical of the previous fundraise because is still, as far as I could see, left the company on the edge of insolvency. But with anther £250,000 in the kitty – and a contract also announced yesterday, is it time to change my stance of keep well away?

F40 Univision – “pleased to announce” interims to Sept. Opinion (profit) vs reality (cashflow)

I am a bit puzzled by this announcement. ShareProphets AIM-China Filthy Forty play Univision (UVEL) is obviously “pleased” with the results, and with profits reported 133% higher on the same period last year and a major long-term contract win in the bag, who would not be pleased. Until, that is, you turn to the cashflow statement…

OneView – as shares soar on “Multi-Million Dollar” agreement, caveat emptor?

Shares in OneView Group (ONEV) are currently soaring ahead on the back of a “Multi-Million Dollar Cloud-Based Hosting Agreement”. With I previously having been bearish here and the ramptastic use of “Multi-Million Dollar” in the announcement title, does this remain a case of caveat emptor?...

Fitbug's latest update must be a joke surely?

If it wasn’t for the fact that ordinary PIs will have lost a lot of money, the announcements and share price movements in Fitbug Holdings (FITB) over the last couple of days would almost be comical!

Tern – Hurrah! A contract for Device Authority.

I’m a bit confused by this morning’s RNS from Tern plc (TERN) which announces a contract for its “subsidiary” Device Authority. News of $300,000 heading into the coffers of the former Cryptosoft entity over the next three years will be viewed as most welcome by Tern’s shareholders.

Cloudbuy – contract RNS, no financials (natch) and unlikely to change market expectations

AIM-listed jam-tomorrow e-commerce platform provider Cloudbuy (CBUY) has announced another contract this morning. No financials were provided and we are told that the contract is “not expected to change market expectations”, yet the release was a full RNS.

China New Energy - the fastest pump and dump in history?

This morning at 8.47am F40 AIM-listed China New Energy (CNEL) announced a contract worth CAD$3 million. The shares rocketed on the news, from an open at about 2p to peak at over 2.5p. Thirty-nine minutes later came the dump, in the form of a placing at just 1.5p in a keep-the-lights-on issue which raised just £200,000. Nice work, fellas - I'll bet anyone who piled in on the contract news at up to 2.5p is delighted with their purchase, with the shares now languishing at just 1.725p last seen. This is a disgrace.

Totally - another contract win: Buy

The contracts and growing of its relationship with the NHS continue for Totally plc (TLY) and the shares are starting to respond. There is a lot more to come on that front.
