Hello Share Friends and Colleagues. This dilapidated old punter has
written this column for the last 24 years. First with the pioneering
Sharecrazy. com and from 2008 for this legendary Shareprophets site. The
old column melded seamlessly into the new one. That means my total
number of contributions would fill about 35 books! But now I’m in my
extremely late thirties. So I’m waving bye bye to you all. It’s time to
move on. I need to spend more time with my family.
Hello Share thrashers. The new government seems slow in getting going, but it has promised to ease the housing shortage by encouraging the building of 300,000 new homes a year. That will take extra bricks and Sussex-based Michelmersh Brick Holdings (MBH) is set up to provide them. It already makes 122 million bricks and paving stones a year and it’s been expanding steadily since he late nineties when it was formed.
Hello Share Pushers. The obscene war in the Middle East has not really affected the price of oil. You would expect it to have risen sharply on the escalating hostilities, but it’s still weak compared to a year ago. But with Iran out of the equation I would expect the oil price to rise soon.
Hello Share Thrashers. At this month’s legendary Sharestock event at
Tom’s rural idyl there was a presentation from two well-spoken and well-informed Irish chaps. The outfit they were promoting hopes to take advantage of the
Artificial Intelligence boom.
Hello Share Tasters. Every time I’ve attended one of Tom’s big share events, I’ve come away with a handful of penny share tips from other punters. And nearly all of them have done well, including a few multi baggers. At the recent riveting Sharestock in Tom’s ancient farmhouse, I took away the following recommendation.
Hello Share Fans. Sometimes company names sound so boring that they slip under the radar. Which means they can sometimes be worth a punt. Such a company is Light Science Technologies (LST). It does lighting and monitoring of vegetables and other stuff that grows. It also deals in fire prevention.
Hello Share Blasters. Today’s penny share for you to consider is a land trust company. It’s called Hammerson (HMSO) and it’s doing rather well. It owns assets worth £4.7 billion. And it has them in 17 of the fastest growing cities in the UK, France and Ireland.
Hello Share Wishers. This dilapidated old punter was tickled by a line from the excellent comedy about the BBC called ‘WI A”. Asked to do more to address Cornish issues, someone asked ‘What exactly are Cornish issues?’ I don’t know either, but I’m rather attracted to the penny share venture, Cornish Metals (CUSN). Rather surprisingly this company is based in Canada, yet it’s focused on mineral mining in Cornwall.
Hello Share Takers. To keep things interesting, this decrepit old punter has set himself a target of making another 30K from his portfolio before Autumn sets in. This will need some extra buying and selling to make the most of opportunities that should (in my estimation) arise. Here’s the plan.
Hello Share Pitchers. Despite its status as a lowly penny share denizen, Capita (CPI) is one of this country’s most important companies for outsourcing work. It does complicated admin tasks for big outfits, mostly governmental, public and private.
