As an investor, Tate and Lyle shares are still Tate and Smile for me!

A mere fifteen months ago, I wrote about why I was “warming up to Tate & Lyle (TATE)”. I concluded that article by observing that I made the share “a BUY compared to Friday’s close of just shy of a 675p share price”. How is the story now with Friday’s closing share price 788p a share (and the global supplier of food and beverage ingredients company founded over a hundred years ago pays a dividend as well).

Warming up to Tate & Lyle

Just under four months ago, here,  I observed that ‘back in the year 2000 I remember looking at Tate & Lyle (TATE), the British-headquartered but globally focused company which aids its customers to ‘make food healthier and tastier’, which was founded after a merger back in 1921. I did very well on the shares back then, but I was not sure back in July this year, whether I was going to buy it again or not.  And since then the shares have fallen a bit further, so based on last Thursday’s first half numbers should I be buying or not?

Tate and Smile?

Back in the year 2000 I remember looking at Tate & Lyle (TATE), the British-headquartered but globally focused company which aides its customers to ‘make food healthier and tastier’. Of course that might include you buying its vanilla syrup, salted caramel syrup or pumpkin spice syrup 750ml products at your local supermarket. After all, the company was founded in 1921 from a merger of two rival sugar refiners: Henry Tate & Sons and Abram Lyle & Sons. So just a little bit of history there.
