Haydale - £1m Retail Offer Raises…..er….
AIM-listed graphene disaster Haydale (HAYD) announced at 4.30pm on Friday (otherwise known as no-one-is-watching o’clock) the result of its £1 million retail offer to support its bailout placing. Having bagged £5 million from dumb institutions, it had been hoping to add a further Bernie. Unfortunately, via its broker, Cavendish (previously known as FinCrap), it raised just £63,045. Why I am still avoiding buying a new sofa…and/or DFS Furniture shares!
Did you see the latest UK retail sales numbers out this morning? Whilst month-on-month sales in August were up 0.4% (versus the -1.2% fall a month earlier), the generally more insightful year-on-year statistic was down 1.4%. I guess the summer weather, holidays and the latest TV/internet excitements all had their impacts but, for me, the big multi-year deviation remains between value and volume. Yes, it matters whether you have pricing power or not. And this brings me onto yesterday’s set of numbers from DFS Furniture (DFS).- By Chris Bailey |

Obviously, when your adviser spends most of his time playing golf or practicing the name dropping he learned from his time at Oriel College Oxford, you may not be reminded of your obligations to keep investors informed about your financial position. Perhaps that is why Caracal Gold (GCAT) did not bother telling investors last year that it had taken out a death spiral for almost five months.
