Wizard Company Expands in the Magical Market of Family Leisure

Hello, Share Swirlers. There is a common kind of family which spoils its children rotten with entertainment cliches. You know, the two parents and two kids who just have to go to Disneyland, Legoland, Centreparks et al. A company which makes a load of dosh out of catering to this daft demand is Merlin (MERL). It operates Legolands here, there and everywhere, together with Thorpe Park, Chessington and Alton Towers. It also owns the ever-popular Madame Tussauds.

Entu – now do the morons believe us? “Proposals… attribute no value to the equity”, shares suspended

Despite having stated early this month “all of the proposals received attribute little value to the equity in the company”the daft egged on by the mendacious led shares in Entu (ENTU) to recently bounce. This was also despite numerous warnings HERE. Now it’s “Suspension of Trading on AIM”

Dixons Carphone - anyone fancy a new phone?

I have not written about Dixons Carphone (DC.) before but, whilst Darren counts the profits from his short sell tip on the share of early January, I have to say today's share price dump has rather piqued my interest.

Lord Archer, Leather Man Yosi Fait, Jeff Skilling & Martha Stewart odd one out result - some of you are so not 2017!

You cannot. as some of you thought, say that Martha is the odd one out as she is female. This is 2017 and it is all about what gender, if any, you identify as, so we do not know if any of the four fine upstanding citizens below are odd ones out in that respect. Catch up folks. Most of you knew what I was hinting at and stumbled towards the correct answer - the odd one out is Lord Archer.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: EBITDA, bullshit earnings, explained for Bushveld shareholders and other morons

With reference to both Bushvalend Minerals (BMN) and the late lamented Southern Salads I explain what EBITDA is and why it really is bullshit earnings. Enjoy.

A letter to Finncap CEO Sam Smith: are you a big supporter of insider dealing?

Generally I would have thought that the CEO of one of London's biggest Nomads, Sam Smith of FinnCap, would have disapproved of insider dealing. It is, after all a criminal offence. But I am not so sure any more. After recent revelations at Telit (TCM) it seems Samantha does not think it is anything to worry about. I have dropped her a letter just to make sure and cc'd in the head of AIM Regulation, Mr Marcus Stuttard, as I am sure he and his colleagues the Oxymorons would like to know where Sam stands.

RBN

Robinson plc – interims talk of ‘recovering margins’ & “further growth”, so why are the shares slumping?

Packaging company Robinson (RBN) has announced results for the first half of 2017, including “we do expect to see sufficient new business coming through in the second half to achieve growth in revenue for the year as a whole and we expect to continue to build the pipeline for further growth in 2018”. However, the shares are currently 6.5% lower, at 121.5p…

HNR

Highland Natural Resources - top slice?

I very much hope that you all took my advice to have a Primary Bid flutter on Highland Natural Resources (HNR) a couple of months ago at 12p. The shares are now 25p. Read my original piece especially for the silly comments posted underneath it by all the usual poltroons. I await their apologies... So what to do now?

AVCT

Avacta Seems Stuck, but if its Antibody Substitutes Really Take Off, Well, Hang onto Your Stethoscope

Hello, Share Squashers. As the usual boring summer for share shifters drags on, with hardly any exciting action on the Footsie front and most penny shares at a standstill, we all struggle to find spare value in any stocks at the moment. I’m keeping faith with most of my old faithfuls, even if some of them, like Photo-Me (PHTM) and Feedback (FDBK) seem to dither around without adding any value. This is possibly due to the time of year, as many traders are away for the school holidays.

Arrogant bastard Nomates Neil Woodford explains his latest disaster Provident Financial

Showing not an ounce of humility, the fund manager who seems to have at least three high profile disasters as week, Neil Woodford has posted a comment on his group's blog explaining why Provident Financial (PFG) shares are cheap after yesterday's disastrous warning. But before you rush out to buy it is worth noting that after the last warning (in June) Nomates Neil posted another blog. Nomates had chatted at length to management, he understood the score, the market was wrong and Nomnates had bought a stack more shares. There seems to be a pattern here.

Entu- such a familiar pattern of stupidity and mendacity

Shares in ENTU (ENTU) were off by 13% today so forcing a statement clarifying just how fucked the company is. Either the company gets a refinancing which will see shareholders almost entirely wiped out or the PLC will go into administration which means a 100% wipeout. The shares are now 36% off at 2.25p but that is still more than double where they were on August 2nd when Entu made almost the same admission.

Odd one out Contest: Martha Stewart, Lord Archer, Leather Man Yosi Fait and Jeff Skilling

Ok this really is easy. All you need to do is to say which of the four well regarded and utterly honest individuals below is the odd one out and why. Do your worst. The deadline is midnight tonight (Wednesday)

OPTI

Optibiotix extends Sacco deal - another piece in the jigsaw: KEEP BUYING!

Optibiotix (OPTI) has announced that it has extended the Europe wide supply agreement announced with Sacco in March to cover the USA and Rest of the World. The new deal grants Sacco an exclusive licence to manufacture and supply OptiBiotix's cholesterol and blood pressure reducing LPLDL® strain in the US and ROW, in return for 50% of the profit, with a guaranteed cost of manufacture and minimum sales price per kilogramme to secure against discounting.

GAME Digital – “Year-end Trading and Business Update”, some encouragement?

GAME Digital (GMD) has announced a period ended 29th July 2017 “Year-end Trading and Business Update”, including “following the launch of the Nintendo Switch console in March 2017, both the UK and Spanish video games markets have experienced growth”

WSBN

Wishbone – Yorkville fund raise, at up to and including 0.8p BUY

Wishbone Gold (WSBN) has announced an £800,000 fund raise at 0.7p. Well we wish it was that simple. The mechanism is really very complicated but involves Yorkville so we imagine that there are people out there saying Death Spiral. They are wrong.

NYO

Nyota – suspended with no Nomad, Peterhouse lines up £550k at just 0.005p. Anything to see here, guv?

Beaumont Cornish resigned as Nomad from AIM-listed Nyota Minerals (NYO) on 17 August with the caveat that it reserved the right to go sooner, as per Nyota’s RNS of 18 July. That statement also announced that Peterhouse subsequently also informed the company that it would resign as broker. Both stepped down as planned, leaving the company suspended on the Casino with bugger all cash. Wind forward to last night (after-hours, natch) RNS and as previously flagged on 15 August, Peterhouse last night was announced to have withdrawn its notice of resignation  and lined up a £550,000 placing at 0.005p. Meanwhile the company tells us that it is confident of appointing a replacement Nomad. It is full RTO steam ahead, then.

WPP

Does WPP stand for 'What Profit Progression'?

Too many years ago to remember as a fledgling analyst and junior portfolio manager, I was told by an old hand that 'WPP is the company with the greatest correlation to the FTSE-100'. I have no idea - nor the boring Excel skills - to say whether this is true but the notion that the world's largest advertising company should broadly share the same ups and downs as the very international main UK market index makes quite a bit of sense.

GDWN

Goodwin – full-year results, sufficient value to compensate for “continued tightening”?

With I having questioned in March 2:15pm ‘Interim Management Statement’ a cause for alarm?, mechanical and refractory engineering company Goodwin (GDWN) has now announced results for its year ended 30th April 2017…
