Naked Wines for me remains a stock to avoid (irrespective whether you are a drinker…or not)

Fifteen months ago I said that “Naked Wines (WINE) shareholders will probably need a drink!”. Back then, the company’s shares were just over 150p and today they are below 65p. And yet, remarkably, the company says “adjusted EBIT of £17.4m, or £16.3m on a 52-week comparable basis (FY22: £2.0m), ahead of guidance (£13-17m) due to lower new customer investment”. What is going on at this, not even now £50 million market cap, business?

Chill Brands AGM statement – it's “avin” a giraffe as it plies an evil trade

Chill Brands (CHLL) today boasts at its AGM that the products on its website “contribute to the overall well-being of our customers, delivering the social and recreational benefits they enjoy while minimising the potential harm associated with traditional substances like tobacco and alcohol.” So that would include vaping products that bring kids into the word of inhalation , a pathway to smoking, and which can cause Lung and other organ damage, breathing problems, asthma, lung scarring and chronic bronchitis. Next up, Russell Brand on why he has always been a feminist.

Zenova – how “thrilled” to be with first deliveries to new sub distributor?

Fire safety and temperature management products and technology group Zenova (ZED) has issued an RNS commencing that it “is thrilled to announce that first deliveries of 13,654 units of Zenova FX500 handheld aerosol extinguishers for the USA market to our recently announced new sub distributor Petra Industries” and including “this is the first time that the Zenova FX500 is available for purchase in the USA and it is expected that orders volumes will increase as more distribution channels are opened in the USA”. With the shares currently responding more than 7% higher to 5.5p, how big is this news?

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Dan Wilkinson from Haworth wants to beat up a much older man, that is to say me

Strapping Dan from Haworth has a sweet looking Mrs. Does she know what an online thug he is as you can see in the tweet below? In today's podcast I discuss Avacta (AVCT), Wildcat Petroleum (WCAT), Dialight (DIA), Tingo (US:TIO) and S4 Capital (SFOR) run by the pompous arse Sir Martin Sorrell.

Mondi does a deal with the Russians…and the share price, correctly, likes it

Seven weeks ago I admitted that I got “the horn for the world of sack kraft paper and paper bags” and thought Mondi (MNDI) shares were cheap. It is good to see the shares up over 10% over the last month, including an over 4% increase today due to a sale in Russia.

Christie – interims, transactions delays or not?…

Writing last month on Professional & Financial Services and Stock/Inventory Systems & Services group Christie (CTG) with the shares falling towards 117p I concluded that the trading performance and outlook suggested to avoid. The shares most recently closed at 110p and what of them currently falling below 100p, a £26 million market capitalisation, on the back of results for the first half of the 2023 calendar year?

SLAM DUNK SHORT: Belluscura – bailout placing looms to stop a gig with the Fat Lady within weeks

Some folks are fooled as to the rate of cashburn at Belluscura (BELL) by the way that – for reasons that are inexplicable to me – it capitalises so many costs. Put simply the states losses massively under-represent the horrific cashburn. Do the maths and even Stevie Wonder can see that the company is running on vapours and unless there is a material, so no doubt massively discounted, fund raise within weeks the Fat Lady will have another AIM listed gig.

Vast Resources – the latest bad news really is a fair Cheryl Cole analogy

Vast Resources (VAST) says that it is “pleased” to announce what turns out to be bad news. I imagine that London’s worst Nomad Roland “Fatty” Cornish signed off on that particular gem well into Friday’s 15 course lunchtime feast. This is all to do with those diamonds locked up in the central bank in Zimbabwe which Vast said back in February would soon be recovered, promoting a massive share price ramp enabling some bailout placings. So, what is the news from Harare?

I still believe that Phoenix Copper has the potential to reach production - speculative buy

Phoenix Copper (PXC) has seen its share price slide by around 30% from the peak it hit a month or so ago, and without any actual news to trigger that.

Don't Confuse this Bubbly Broker with Elvis's GI Blues. There's No Blues about the Possible Prospects for this Outfit

Hello Share turners. Being sensible, I trust my shares to several brokers. This is to spread the risk. Because, as some of us know to our cost with the old Beaufort Securities, the FSA protection stops at £85,000. After that, surprisingly and shockingly, administrators are quite legally allowed our shares to help pay for their sad task should the broker go under. I do have a favourite broker though. One which is doing well.

The View From The Montana Log-Cabin As Gold Continues To Hold $1900……..just!

Gold closed the week at $1924 – up a shade from last week’s $1919 but the rather more important thing for me was that it held the $1900 line (just) on Thursday. I sense that this is the battle line and if it holds it should provide a springboard for a push back towards the all-time high.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: a buy idea that is too sordid for me to consider

I start with Russell Brand and Chile's most famous poet, I end with Sharestock. In between Doc Holliday, ECR Minerals (ECR), that sordid buy idea, why Id like to see more AIM Companies going bust and Bidstack (BIDS)

How bonkers will the Bank of England be later this week?

There are a number of interesting corporate names reporting here in the UK over the next week, but I am also “looking forward” to Thursday’s upcoming decision from the Bank of England. I say “looking forward”, because I think the BoE has lost the plot about its interest rate policy…

A wipeout for IOG equity holders seems the most likely outcome now - sell/avoid

IOG (IOG) is one of those natural resource companies that has found itself drowning in debt and with seemingly no way out that is likely to leave much, if any, value for current equity holders.
